In a divorce case, Court Orders specifying how to allocate the proceeds of a Pension Plan or 401K Plan are called QDROs. QDRO stands for Qualified Domestic Relations Order. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT A QDRO
A QDRO, stands for Qualified Domestic Relations Order. It is a Court Order that is required to divide funds of a retirement plan or pension pursuant to a divorce.
QDROs have several requirements that make them qualified so that they can be accepted by the retirement plan's Plan Administrator.
Our office contacts the Plan Administrator and will send them a draft of the QDRO for pre-approval (if they pre-approve QDROs) before it is ready to be submitted to the Court for signature.
